Coverage

Asset groups and loss types: the coverage matrix

Three asset groups, the classic loss types and the add-ons – without premium figures, by content. The precise scope of cover differs by insurer: the policy terms always govern.

Asset group 1

Building

  • Structure, finishes, built-in building services
  • Associated structures, fencing
  • For leased premises: tenant fit-out is a separate item

The base: reinstatement cost – not the market price. For leased premises: who insures what?

Asset group 2

Machinery, equipment

  • Production machinery, workshop and warehouse equipment
  • IT equipment, office equipment
  • Based on an inventory and value list

The base is a fresh inventory; internal breakdowns are covered by the machinery-breakdown module.

Asset group 3

Stock

  • Raw materials, work in progress and finished goods, merchandise
  • Fluctuating value – with its own rules
  • Subject to storage requirements

Managing the fluctuation – averaging, limits, periodic increases: the stock article.

This table is an informative matrix map, not an offer: the "core / add-on" classification can differ by insurer, and burglary cover (*) is conditional on meeting security requirements – typical requirements. The full exclusions picture: exclusions map.

And what isn't property insurance's job

Property insurance protects the company's own assets. Damage caused to others is the territory of liability insurance – on the boundary: own damage vs. damage caused, in detail: felelosseg.biz. Risks during construction: epites.biz and the borderline-cases article. Vehicles: flotta.biz and the boundaries on your premises. Residential home protection: lakas.biz – with its home-office borderline cases: here. The company's whole portfolio in one place: vallalkozas.biz.
